What is Mended Therapy?

Combining mental health with a love of fashion, creativity, and sustainability, Mended Therapy was born.

Mental Health: I want to show that although things may seem like they cannot get better, there is hope. Just like a mended piece of clothing is brought new life, the same can be said of us. I am here to walk with you through this journey with laughter, creativity, and challenging your beliefs about yourself.

Fashion: The Mended Therapy Group uses the mending of articles of clothing as a jumping off point to process through things in our lives.

Creativity: I enjoy using creative tools with clients who would like to use them.

Sustainability: My office keeps sustainability in mind. I use things second hand where I can and try to reduce waste as much as possible. 90% of my office furniture is second hand and many of my toys and tools are second hand.

Ashley is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider Designation (LPC-MHSP). She has been working as a mental health clinician for almost 8 years in various settings.

A Little Work History and Info About How I Do Therapy:

I have worked with teens in residential, children as young as 5 and up in outpatient, elementary and middle schoolers in the school environment, and children and adults in in-home services. I work a lot with mood disorders, self esteem struggles, life transitions, and with the LGBTQ+ community.

I have been trained in TF-CBT, which is an intervention for ages 5-17 who have experienced trauma and includes the parents/support person in treatment. I have done presentations with schools and students about mental health.

I use CBT, ACT and person-centered in my therapy approach. I use play with kids (and with adults if they find it helpful). I also use creative tools in sessions for those that may struggle to express themselves or for those who enjoy being creative. Examples of this are use of clay, coloring, drawing, and writing.
